A day in the life of: Product Manager Elena Ramos

Elena is in constant contact with our many partner wineries. A biology graduate with a Masters in viticulture and winemaking, she works hand-in-hand with our suppliers to make sure that our clients get the wines they want, both in terms of product and packaging, and that they reach them on time and in a good condition.

She’s been at Long Wines for over 8 years, joining after working vintages at wineries in both New Zealand and Spain.

Her days vary greatly, from discussing ideas for new product lines with William and the rest of the team, to solving supply issues and checking up on wineries. Recently she has been closely involved in the new Las Carlinas wines, working with the rest of the team to draw up the packaging and design brief, and visiting wineries to taste the wines and check the technical specifications for packaging. She then oversees design and production of the packaging with other suppliers, in conjunction with the wineries, to ensure that the wine is ready by the agreed launch date.

She says that her favourite aspects of the job are the opportunity that it gives her to be in daily contact with wineries all over Spain, “Everyday I learn something new about winemaking and vine growing in different parts of the country,” she states.

When asked if she has a favourite wine among the wines in the Long Wines portfolio, Elena says “I like all the wines we work with, as we only select wines that we consider to offer the best quality at their price point from each region. It’s a very broad range so there are wines for every occasion: Cavas for an aperitif, white wines to go with fish or seafood, young red wines to enjoy with tapas, and oaked reds that are perfect with stews or roast meats.”
