Vega Escal among Wine & Spirits Magazine’s top 100 wines

Long Wines is proud to announce that the Priorat brand that it distributes – Vega Escal – features in the prestigious North American wine publication Wine and Spirits’ annual top 100 round up of the world’s best wines.

Vega Escal 2011 is given an excellent score of 92 points – “an exceptional example of its type” according to the title’s score guide – and is one of only two Priorat wines in the 2017 “100 Best Buys of the Year” buying guide which appears in the Winter 2016 edition of the leading specialist wine title. It is praised for being a good example of the move by Priorat vintners “towards reds that show a cleaner and clearer expression of the place, rather than emphasizing power.” They describe the wine as being “filled with lush raspberry and strawberry flavors that reflect the region’s sunny, hot days, as well as mineral tones from the soils that bring freshness and depth. It vibrates with energy, supple yet ample.”

Founded in 1982, Wine & Spirits is the only wine publication to win the James Beard award five times for excellence in wine writing, and the more than 13,000 bottlings evaluated every year go through a two-step tasting process.
