A golden end to the year for Long Wines with 91-point scores for a range of wines

Although we think all our wines offer exceptional quality, with such a large range, we can only select a handful to enter the wine competitions each year. Once again, in 2024, almost all the wines we selected won medals or excellent scores from the world’s leading critics.

This year, James Suckling awarded “outstanding” scores of 90-91 points to several wines, including two wines from our top Cava brand De Pró, a really powerful recognition of its quality reflected in the points and descriptions given by the James Suckling team:

  • De Pró Brut Organic NV, 91 points: “A lively wine, perfect for any occasion. It is fresh and crisp with a charming nose of citrus fruit, pears and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied with vivid acidity and fine bubbles.”
  • De Pró Brut NV, 90 points: “A good, fruity Cava brut, showing green apples, minerals and chalk.Creamy bubbles on the palate with tangy flavors and an appetizing, zesty finish. Generous and well-balanced.”
  • El Bos Tinta del Toro Roble 2021, DO Toro, 91 points: “Rich, dark-fruited and meaty with full body and ripe, well-integrated tannins. It offers notes of baked cherries, plums, dried blood oranges and cocoa. Deep and layered with a firm, focused ending.”
  • Clos del Bou 2022, DO Priorat, 91 points: “Bright and vibrant color and a nose drenched with red cherries, crunchy plums, berries and touches of hibiscus and minerals. Firm, fresh and pretty al dente, showing zippy acidity and a big crunch of juicy red fruit on the medium-bodied palate.”

We’re also thrilled to announce that four of our wines have been awarded gold medals at the prestigious Asia Wine Trophy 2024:

  • Finca Mónica Rioja Crianza 2021, DOCa Rioja: Aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, this Rioja offers a balanced and elegant profile.
  • Melea Organic Tempranillo 2023: A vibrant and expressive Tempranillo from vineyards with organic certification.
  • Chispas Garnacha-Syrah 2023, DO Campo de Borja: A youthful and fruity blend of Garnacha and Syrah, offering a juicy and refreshing drinking experience.
  • Pleyades Garnacha-Syrah 2023, DO Campo de Borja: Spain’s native Garnacha grape blended with Syrah, for greater depth and attractive notes of spice.

With over 4,300 submitted wines, the Asia Wine Trophy is Asia’s largest OIV wine competition, making these gold medals a prestigious recognition of the quality of our wines.
