Another gold for Altos de Aranda Crianza from DO Ribera del Duero
Not all of the 2021 wine competitions have released their results yet, but Altos de Aranda Crianza 2016 from the DO Ribera del Duero is already setting itself apart as a winner, with a further gold medal from the Gilbert & Gaillard wine competition. This makes a total of three gold medals (Berliner, Gilbert, American Wine Awards) and 90 points from Wine & Spirit that it has won this year.
The prestigious North American wine magazine, Wine & Spirits, tasted the 2016 Crianza in their Ribera del Duero focus, awarding it a score of 90 points and a Best Buy recommendation. Taster and editor Joshua Greene described it as showing: “A deep pool of wild blueberry flavor, from the juicy black skins to the ripe stems, this is spicy, with earthy tannins that corral all that fruit. For spit-roasted pork.”
Further gold medals in the Gilbert and Gaillard competition were awarded to El Bos Tinta de Toro 2019, Melea Organic White 2020, Casa Natal Albariño 2020 DO Rías Baixas and Amalia red NV. Pléyades Garnacha –Syrah and Chispas Garnacha-Syrah 2020 won silver medals.
