“Excellent” Vintage of El Bos now Available
The latest release of El Bos is from the 2020 vintage, which was classified as “excellent” by the Toro Designation of Origin expert tasting committee.
El Bos winemaker Martín Padín explains why the vintage was so highly rated:
“In terms of weather, it was the wettest of the last five years, the budding conditions were good, and the fruit-set and ripening led the DO Toro to bring in more than 20 million kilos of fruit. Harvest started at the start of September and it took place over quite a long period as the temperature fell during the ripening period. I think it was a very good year, as the grapes arrived in a very healthy condition and showing excellent balance in terms of ripeness and flavour characteristics. I believe that these wines have a very good ageing capacity and will develop favorably over time.”
He describes El Bos 2020 as being, “A clear and bright, deep cherry red wine with a bluish rim. It displays the aromas of fresh red fruit that are typical of the variety, blended with notes of cocoa and mocha. It has a great structure on the palate, with freshness and body; and a smooth, velvety finish.”
The previous vintage of El Bos won a Gold Medal at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2021 and a Silver Medal at the AWC Vienna 2021, and although tasting results have not yet come in for the new 2020 vintage we expect even better results.
