A new premium white wine from Spain: Las Carlinas Garnacha Blanca
We’ve been working behind the scenes to launch a definitive premium white as an alternative to Verdejo or Albariño for some time, and now have it: Las Carlinas Garnacha Blanca.
Garnacha Blanca is a mutation of the red Garnacha grape, believed to have originated in Northern Spain. Although it fell out of favour in the 20th century for being difficult to grow, it has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, with consumers discovering its attractive floral, stone fruit and delicately herbaceous aromas. The fact it is also drought resistant makes it of great value in the face of climate change.
Las Carlinas is the result of a collaboration between Long Wines and a specialist Garnacha winery in DO Cariñena in Aragón, the area with the most hectares of Garnacha vines in Spain. The vines grow at high altitude (more than 700m) using sustainable viticultural techniques.
A 100% varietal wine, Las Carlinas Garnacha Blanca displays notes of white blossom and peach. Refreshing and elegant, it is aged for three months on the lees in oak barrels to add depth and texture on the palate.
