New gold medal-winning vintage of Finca Mónica Tempranillo
The latest award-winning 2015 vintage of Finca Mónica Tempranillo is now available from Long Wines.
Recent Gold Medal winner in the Berliner Wein Trophy 2016, this wine is the result of years of work by Long Wines and the New World trained winemaker of family-owned winery Burgo Viejo to create a young fruit-forward Rioja that is contemporary in style yet still absolutely representative of the grape and region.
Using tempranillo from vines of 30+ years of age, with 3 months’ ageing in American oak, Finca Mónica Tempranillo 2015 is easy-to-drink but with substance, and consumers typically describe it as “great value for money”, with one Vivino wine app user saying “everyone we know likes it!”
The 2015 vintage, the earliest on record in the Rioja DOCa, is yet to be officially qualified by the Rioja Regulatory Council, but the end-of-harvest reports highlighted the excellent condition of the grapes, with slightly higher than average potential alcohol levels due to the warm weather conditions.
