Clos Del BOu

Clos del Bou: organic Priorat added to the Long Wines range

Priorat is synonymous with excellence so we’re excited to be launching a new wine from the Catalan region at ProWein, which is not only from a small family estate but is also certified organic.

Clos del Bou is from a winery with 31ha of its own vineyards located at 420 to 480m altitude on the steep terraces of the Barranc de la Bruixa (Witch’s Ravine). It was founded in the 1990s by the Gómez Doblado family, who ran a tapas bar and wine shop in Sant Cugat del Valles from 1947 before deciding to dedicate themselves to the vines and create their own wine. The gravity-fed, state-of-the-art winery was built underground in the midst of the vineyards in 2011 following sustainability principles.

The vineyards of predominantly Garnacha and Cariñena vines on steep terraces are managed naturally using ancestral practices such as sheep manure for fertilizer and biodynamic treatments such as silica to improve vegetative growth. The owner Josep Gomez works alongside one of Cataluña’s most renowned winemakers, Joan Solé, to make the wines.

The Clos del Bou red is made from a blend of Garnacha and Cariñena with 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and has all the spiced red and black fruit you’d expect from a Priorat but with soft, approachable tannins and juicy freshness.

Please book a visit to our stand K49 in Hall 11 at ProWein if you’d like to be among the first to see and taste this new addition to our portfolio.
