Fantastic 2017 whites and rosés released

Long Wines is pleased to offer the new vintage of white and rosé wines from wineries across Spain. Although 2017 was a smaller harvest in terms of quantity – particularly in Castilian regions such as Rueda – the quality of the rosés and whites that are now being released is exceptionally good.

Rosés from the 2017 vintage – particularly the Garnacha rosados from the Campo de Borja region – offer classic bright, cherry fruit but with a more restrained colour in keeping with modern preferences. Our tasting note for the 2017 Garnacha rosado reads: “Pale pink. Fresh, with greater volume, notes of cherry, herbs and spices. Very good, long and concentrated with a great mouth feel.”

In the 2017 whites, Chardonnay shows its strength, with an increased percentage of the international grape in blends from the Campo de Borja due to many Macabeo vineyards being taken out of service. The wines are fresh and crisp with notes of apple, lemon and stone fruit, perfect for serving with summer salads and fish dishes.

Award-winning brands now moving to the 2017 vintage include Pléyades, Chispas and Amalia from DO Campo de Borja, Catanga Organic from VdlT Castilla and the generic Vino de España, Altos d’Oliva.
