Long Wines sparkles with five gold medals in Berlin
Long Wines has added to its impressive haul of awards with five gold medals announced recently for its Spanish wines in the Berliner Wine Trophy 2016.
From the core range, the crowd-pleasing Finca Mónica Tempranillo 2015 from the Rioja DOCa was a gold medal winner, along with the Catanga Sauvignon Blanc 2015, an excellent result for this affordable organic wine which is classified as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla.
The range of wines from the DO Cataluña performed particularly strongly, with two golds: for the Gran Reserva 2008 from the Conde Galiana range, along with the Altos de Oliva Gran Reserva 2007, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Garnacha from low-yielding, high altitude vines.
Also from Cataluña, the Solluna 2013 from the DO Priorat was another worthy gold medal winner. A blend of Garnacha, Carignan and Merlot, grown on the region’s famed Llicorella soils (a blend of slate and quartz), this is an intensely complex, mineral wine, which offers outstanding value for money.
