New vintage of Clos Roja
The new vintage of recently repackaged Clos Roja from the DOQ Priorat is now available. Moving to the 2015 vintage, which was exceptionally good in in the Catalan region, the blend of 60% Cariñena, 30% Garnacha and 10% Syrah is just being released after completing six months ageing in oak and a further period of bottle conditioning.
The 2015 vintage is considered a great vintage in the DOQ Priorat with snowfall in winter, a warm July prompting even veraison, followed by cooler nights and light rains in August that helped preserve acidity, but with sufficient heat to ripen during the day. Ideal dry conditions in September and October saw the grapes arrive at the wineries in a very healthy condition with no rot or mildew.
